Sacramento Bankruptcy: Will you Need a Credit Counseling Class?

Changes to the bankruptcy law have mandated that you participate in a credit counseling class within six months of the bankruptcy as a pre-condition to filing Chapter 7 or 13 bankruptcy.  Likewise, following a successful bankruptcy filing, you will have to attend a debtor education class to discharge your debts.

Sacramento bankruptcy filers must attend a debtor education class in the Sacramento area.  This course will teach you skills of how to manage your finances following bankruptcy.  This course is more extensive than your credit counseling course and often takes one to three hours.

Debtor education most often must be paid for by the debtor, and it is important to understand that such costs are a part of bankruptcy.  However, some US Trustees offer debtor education classes at their offices for a reduced fee.  To learn more, simply contact the Sacramento offices of Sagaria Law for consultation.
