Sarah Cox grew up in Wichita, Kansas, despite being a California native.  She attended McGill University in Montreal, Canada where she majored in history, and minored in political science and women’s studies.  She spent a summer studying international and European politics at American University – Brussels, in Brussels, Belgium.  She attended the University of California, Davis School of Law.  While in law school, Ms. Cox chaired the child care cooperative, founded the local Law Students for Choice group, and co-chaired the annual Symposium for the Journal of International Law and Policy.  She externed in both government and the nonprofit sector.  She graduated in 2006, receiving the Public Service certificate.  Since graduation, Ms. Cox has practiced family law exclusively.

In her free time, she enjoys running (she completed her first marathon in 2008), reading everything she can get her hands on, spending time with her family and her pets, and watching all the terrible television she can.
